The league was originally started under the name SummerBall. In April 2001, it was renamed Major League Wiffleball. Ten years later, in May 2011, the league was contacted by lawyers representing The Wiffle® Ball, Inc., regarding possible trademark violations. To avoid any confusion, our name was changed to Plastic Baseball.
All Plastic Baseball games take place on a cul-de-sac, cleverly named “The Sac”. Each season has consisted of a 20-game regular season and culminated with a best-of-seven Sac Series. Plastic Baseball has been recognized by ESPN the Magazine, the Albany Times Union, WRGB-TV (Schenectady, NY), and the Minnesota Star-Tribune.
Unfortunately, due to the majority of the league’s members reaching “adulthood”, the players decided to cut back on their amount of time spent playing Plastic Baseball. As a result, Plastic Baseball has shifted our focus from the asphalt cul-de-sac to the Internet.
This web site will continue to show how much fun Plastic Baseball can be, and hopefully it will encourage our visitors to play Plastic Baseball themselves, and possibly form their own leagues.
